We learned about the 'camera grid, rule of third'

The rule of thirds is a composition guideline that places your subject in the left or right third of an image, leaving the other two thirds more open. While there are other forms of composition, the rule of thirds generally leads to compelling and well-composed shots.

The rule of thirds is a compositional technique used in

photography, art, and design. The idea is to divide an area into equal parts

using two imaginary lines, creating a grid. When arranging elements within this

grid, designers often use one of four intersections as a focal point to draw

the viewer's eye to a particular location in the composition. By placing

elements at these intersections, designers create a sense of visual balance and

harmony. The rule of thirds is a versatile technique that can be applied to

many types of compositions, including photographs, paintings, and websites. It

can also be used to create both informal and formal designs.

On the 19th, We were called on and sir talked about the camera and the tips on video shooting. Sir explained some about the scripts and voiceovers needed for the Documentary. We all were excited and had a lively discussion .

All of the participants of innovation tournament were busy working on their blogs, developing their app and seeking for solutions to their problems. Our sir, as a guider was helping to those of the participants who were in need of help.
Filming day:
We were on the journey of managing wastes and we picked up some cans and other wastes then started working on it. We went to Samtse town and searched for people for the exclusive interview about their views on waste management. after that, we planned to go to other places as well. Then we began our journey to places that had a lot of waste and we went with a goal in mind to educate the people on why waste management is important and how waste can be harmful to the environment if not taken care of.

We all went to the waste yard for the documentary films and looked how the people worked on it. we did some interviews with  some of the workers and asked for their views on managing wastes. After that, we started filming video and took some pictures as evidence. We went to  other places and filmed some scenes . As a part of our environment, we all were emotionally touched seeing the workers of waste municipality doing their best to keep our environment clean and greener. It was something which we couldn't explain our feelings to anyone.

We would still hope that we would make some inspiring for others through this documentary films and fulfilling the hardships of waste problems. we were all embarrassed to be on camera at first but me and Joesand were reluctant and did the interviews at the end.
When we arrived at the waste yard we started to go every where to do entries and then started to film shoots and the rest of the documentary.

After a few hours we went in car to the view point for shooting a few scenes and then we had a picnic as a break after a long time because we were all exhausted and tired. We could go to the river side, 1 bridge , the park and a random forest after that . Then we met and decided to meet again the next day to continue our progress as the sun was setting down and it was really late.

The next day we would meet again and go to Shivalaya mandir to interview the residents and then we went to the dzong to interview the people. We got a  opportunity to interview Dasho dzongrab. After that we went to Majathang , Damdum bridge , Samtse central jail , BPC, the town and interviewed some peoples parents as well . At the end of the day we were proud of the progress and had a small picnic to celebrate.

Video editing :

Mrs. Tshewang Dema, another one of our teachers, conducted a demonstration on the usage of CapCut video editing software for our upcoming documentary. While most of us were familiar with the software on their mobile phones, only a few people  had prior experience using it on a PC. This  session really did boosted our confidence in editing our own respected  documentary's.

After the demonstration, we were given the opportunity to explore the various features of the CapCut video editing software. Excitement filled the room as we quickly delved into the different tools and functions available to them. With madam Tshewang's guidance,  we navigated through the software, experimenting with effects, transitions, and audio adjustments. The hands-on experience allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of the software's capabilities and how they could utilize them to enhance our documentary projects.

As we were given the time to explore the features, We were able to engage in  a lively discussions, sharing our discoveries and exchanging ideas on how to make our own documentary more engaging and professional. The hands-on exploration of the editing  software served as a valuable practical exercise, reinforcing the concepts taught during the demonstration and encouraging us to think critically and creatively about the documentary editing process.
